Christian Education at Ascension
Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." (Matthew 28: 18-20)
He must hold firm to the sure word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to confute those who contradict it. (Titus 1:9)
Our faith requires that we believe that God is the source of all truth. We cannot invent truth but only discover it, and recognize that our search for truth leads us to God. That is why Christian Formation at Ascension Church is at the heart of our ministry. We pray that we are granted the wisdom to:
- Make sure that all our programs and ministries hold to His teaching, and that our ideas conform to His.
- Know the truth with certainty as God has clearly revealed it to us in the Bible and through His Son.
- Be set free from false choices, wrong conclusions, and unworthy goals.
The Bible is the guidebook for every learning experience at Ascension Church. We rely on the Articles of Religion to guide our Anglican understanding of Christian Formation. We consider The Homilies important documents for understanding the Anglican ethos.
Ascension Episcopal School on the parish campus is one of our mission outreach ministries. This day school is "a Christian community committed to guiding children on their journey toward spiritual, intellectual and physical excellence using their God-given talents." Christian teachers and staff, chapel services, Bible study and character education in the classroom are advantages not found in public school.
