The Ministry of The Family

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. (Romans 12:4-5)

To prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:12-13)

As a congregation, the word "family" best describes what happens in our community life together. The church is an extended family, a body of people where "Jesus Christ is the head and all the baptized people are the members." As in any family the members live in a close relationship of caring, learning, nurturing, security and love.

In contrast to our civil family where members are added by birth, adoption or marriage, our parish family is designed to be much more inclusive. Members reach out to friends, neighbors and visitors to invite them to belong to our congregation and go with us on our journey to know and do the Lord's will. We are a family where each member feels a sense of belonging not only to Christ as Lord but also to each other as fellow disciples.

Safeguarding God's Children

Safeguarding God’s Children is a training program focused on preventing abuse of children and youth. The three-hour training is mandatory for anyone working with children and youth in Episcopal churches, schools and institutions in the Diocese of Texas.
