Serendipity Supper Groups

"Serendipity Supper Groups for 8" provide a way for the church’s adult members to become acquainted on a more personal level than is possible at larger church gatherings.

The Group is comprised of parishioners representing a mixture of ages, backgrounds and martial status. Supper group schedules are prepared in approximately quarterly increments, January - April, June - August, and September - November. Participants can sign up for any interval.

A host is designated on the schedule and that person takes a turn during a period at organizing the dinner in their home, apartment, or other prearranged location. The host is responsible for the main course and beverage. Other guests contribute side dishes to complement the meal. The hose contacts the members of the group to determine a convenient time to meet and coordinates the dishes.

The groups are intentionally limited to 6-8 people at each dinner. This facilitates members to become acquainted with others, new members or anyone attending that might be interested in learning more about Ascension. Through these informal social gatherings, participants develop stronger relationships of caring and sharing with peers who were once only "familiar faces" at church on Sunday.

Occasionally, larger joint pot luck suppers have been held during the busy months of May and December.

Those surrounding this ministry pray that more people will join them and that these social gatherings will be a foundation upon which more spiritual ministries might eventually be built.
