Discipline in Lent
Lectio Divina
We will offer a different Bible reading experience during Len for 2009t. For several years John Edel has organized the sequential reading of the Bible during Lent. John has indicated that he is not able to do this in 2009. So we are recommending that each person use Lectio Divina as a disciple for Bible reading and spiritual growth during this season of Lent.
A brochure discribing this approach is available in the Narthex of Ascension Episcopal Church. The usd of Lectio Divina is also explained at the following web site: http://www.laybenedictines.org/html/lectio.html
One People Reading One Bible
Everyone is invited to come and listen to all or part of the Bible read in the Church each year during Lent.
On Ash Wednesday the sequential reading of the Bible from the lectern by members of the Parish begins.
On the last Saturday of Lent, this discipline concludes with the reading of the remaining chapters of Revelation.
