Worship at Ascension Episcopal Church
Let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. (Hebrews 12:28)
It is a most invaluable part of that blessed "liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free," that in his worship different forms and usages may without offense be allowed, provided the substance of the Faith be kept entire; and that, in every Church, what cannot be clearly determined to belong to Doctrine must be referred to Discipline; and therefore, by common consent and authority, may be altered, abridged, enlarged, amended, or otherwise disposed of, as may seem most convenient for the edification of the people, "according to the various exigency of times and occasions." (The Book of Common Prayer, page 9)
Without our worship service, Ascension Episcopal Church would be nothing more than a beautiful building with stained glass windows on Seagler Road lost among the service stations, office buildings and homes. But when we come together as the household of God, the building comes alive as we celebrate God's presence.
We offer a variety of worship services which are all open to being led by the Holy Spirit. Each is rich in our Anglican heritage. We are aware to the different worship needs of individuals.
-
Some prefer a more meditative style.
-
Others prefer contemporary music offered in a contemporary form.
-
Still others prefer traditional music and a traditional service.
We have all of these forms on Sunday morning. We are studying ways to expand our worship opportunities to other forms on other days.
Each expression of worship at Ascension it is meant to provide a channel for us to bring to God the genuine feelings of our hearts. Only then can we obey Jesus who said "....true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks." (John 4:23)
